Betty’s Branch- Betty’s Branch, a tributary to the Savannah River, is a spot favorited by local kayakers and for good reason. First, there is no need to carpool as you launch and end at the same spot. Secondly, this route is rich with wildlife such as turtles, heron, osprey, deer, hawks, otters, raccoons, owls, beavers, foxes, and occasionally a wild boar. Last, but certainly not least, the selfie opportunities are endless. The most photographed spot on this route is the train tussle that crosses the Savannah River.

Evans Towne Center Park/Lady Antebellum Pavilion- No trip is complete without a visit to Evans Towne Center Park, especially when you attend a concert at the Lady Antebellum Pavilion. The unique shape of the Lady A’s roof, coupled with a dramatic sunset, makes for the perfect photo.

Historic Augusta Canal Headgates at Savannah Rapids Park- This is arguably the most iconic and beautiful areas of Columbia County. The headgates of the historic Augusta Canal are both unusual and beautiful. Like Betty’s Branch, some of the best spots are from the water, but unlike it, the headgates are easily accessible by land. In fact, this is a popular site for walking, jogging, biking as well as kayaking and canoeing.
